Randy's Transmissions 68RFE Accumulator Piston Set 68RFE-E101

The Randy's Transmissions 68RFE Accumulator Piston Set 68RFE-E101 will replace the worn-out or leaking accumulator pistons in your Dodge Ram 6.7L Diesel. Bore wear and accumulator piston scuffing are common issues with Mopar valve bodies, particularly when operating at higher pressures. The factory accumulator pistons have two seal rings each. The piston's open end has a larger diameter seal groove, and the seal ring serves as a guide to stop the piston from contacting the bore. The closed end of the piston has a seal groove with a smaller diameter that serves as a traditional seal. The piston will, however, contact the bore when side-loaded, causing scuffing, wear, and clutch apply pressure leakage because the seal groove is a smaller diameter.

To prevent piston-to-bore scuffing under side-loading, three guide seal rings are included in this set: one at each end of the piston, and one in the middle. These pistons are machined from 6061 billet aluminum, will replace the plastic units in late-model applications, and help prevent transmission failure from piston failure.
